Skintec: When Innovation Meets Sustainability
A new material generation for demanding work environments
Whether in cleanrooms, laboratories, production facilities, or ESD areas — technically sensitive work environments require uncompromising standards. Hygiene, safety, ergonomics and durability are just as crucial as sustainability and efficiency.
With Skintec, Bimos presents an innovative upholstery material that unites all these requirements in one solution — developed together with the new TEXON work chair.
What Makes Skintec Special
Skintec was developed to meet the increasing demands of the modern work environment — where robustness, hygiene, conductivity and comfort play an increasingly important role.
More than a new surface material, Skintec is a system component for future-proof, responsible and sustainable furnishing in sensitive high-tech areas. Skintec brings all key properties together in an ideal way and delivers a high-performance solution for demanding workplaces.
Key Features at a Glance:
- Easy to clean, washable and resistant to all common disinfectants

- Non-slip and dimensionally stable — even under continuous load
- Conductive in all colors — even light variants meet the highest ESD requirements. This is unique in the market, as previously only dark materials were conductive
- Outstanding seating comfort thanks to a soft foam core
- Highly durable and resilient — ideal for continuous use in demanding conditions
- Fire-safety tested according to DIN EN 1021-1 and -2
- Free from harmful substances — no phthalates, PVC or plasticizers

Sustainability Begins with the Material
Skintec stands not only for technological innovation, but also for a new level of responsibility in manufacturing.
The upholstery material is produced using a water-driven foam system that completely replaces conventional halogenated blowing agents.
Ecological Advantages at a Glance:
- 35% material savings due to lower density — fewer resources, less waste
- Approx. 20–25% CO₂eq savings during production by using water as an eco-friendly blowing agent
- Reduced transport weight — resulting in additional emission reduction
This material innovation was developed entirely in-house by Bimos and is unique within the industry. Skintec is manufactured entirely at Bimos’s main site in Tieringen, on the Swabian Alb. State-of-the-art production processes and robotic technologies ensure consistently high quality and maximum process reliability.
The production of Skintec exemplifies Bimos’s commitment to combining technological innovation and sustainable responsibility under one roof — a true “Made in Germany” product.
Product in Focus: TEXON
Skintec was developed specifically for TEXON — the chair designed for the demanding high-tech workplaces of the future.
With innovative materials, sophisticated Hygienic Design, and excellent seating comfort, TEXON meets the rising demands of an increasingly complex working world.
Whether in cleanrooms, ESD areas, laboratories, or production environments — TEXON sets new standards in sensitive work areas.
With Skintec, TEXON fulfills all requirements in these environments — without compromising comfort.
A Material Made for the Future
With Skintec and TEXON, Bimos demonstrates how modern seating solutions can meet the highest technical requirements while contributing actively to greater sustainability.
This material is more than just a surface — it is a statement: for responsibility, for comfort, for innovation.
