Hygiene in the laboratory

We set chairs as a benchmark for the highest cleanliness

Extensive hygiene in the laboratory means that even the chairs are required to meet hygiene standards. All Bimos chairs are ideally suited to the requirements in laboratories. They are easy to clean, have few to no joints and are resistant to disinfectants. With their wipe-clean materials, they fit in perfectly with the clean equipment in the laboratory, even if cleanroom quality is required.

Requirements

Hygienic design as a standard

Hygienic design plays a central role for all Bimos lab chairs. This means that they are easy to clean and have been designed with as few joints as possible. Some chairs have been designed almost completely without joints and crevices where germs and bacteria could accumulate. The backs and underside of the chairs are sealed and even on the space-saving feet, they have as little contact surface as possible.

Components

It depends on the materials

All Bimos lab chairs are made of high-quality, durable materials that are particularly suitable for use in hygienically demanding environments. Plastics and aluminium are easy to wash and can be disinfected without any problems. In addition, all materials are free of harmful substances.

Equipment

Upholstery – comfortable and clean

The upholstery plays a central role in lab chairs. They are the interface between the demand for cleanliness and the need for comfort and ergonomics. That is why we recommend two types of upholstery in particular for use in the laboratory.
Cover materials

Synthetic leather

Artificial leather is the optimum upholstery option for laboratory environments and offers numerous advantages. Bimos artificial leather is free of PVC and plasticisers. This prevents the gradual release of plasticisers over time and the subsequent hardening and cracking of the material. Consequently, the artificial leather remains permanently soft and flawless. It does not contain any phthalates that are harmful to health or the environment and has been fire safety tested in accordance with DIN EN 1021-1 and -2.

The surface is washable, easy to care for and easy to keep clean. Even aggressive chemicals do not affect the material, which makes it a particularly durable and thus economical cover material. This means that all cleaning instructions can be strictly adhered to and employees can be sure that the chair does not pose a risk to lab results.

You can rely on these standards

When it comes to hygiene in the laboratory, there are numerous standards that must be met. They relate not only to the behaviour of employees, but also to the workplace equipment and, most importantly, the laboratory chairs. Contact us to find out which of our laboratory chairs best fulfils your individual requirements.

One of the features of the Bimos LABSIT is that it meets the high demands that biotechnology laboratories place on equipment. In accordance with the German Biological Agents Ordinance, it meets the safety classes S1, S2 and S3. This makes it a safe choice for use in laboratories with particularly high requirements.

Some Bimos lab chairs – such as the LABSIT – fulfil air purity class 3 according to EN ISO 14 644-1 and can therefore also be used in ISO 3 cleanrooms without hesitation.

GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) refers to guidelines for quality assurance of production processes and environments. Bimos lab chairs are GMP-compliant and thus guarantee the highest standard

We have all our chairs tested for harmful substances and emissions, and of course they are GS-certified. So you can be sure that you are getting the highest quality.
