Lab work
High, low, ESD function – Bimos lab chairs fit every task
Whether it is a chemical, medical or pharmaceutical laboratory, a research unit for food technology or genetics – lab work is diverse, sensitive and should be supported by high-quality furniture. This applies especially to the chairs at the workplace which must be hygienic, comfortable and also space-saving.
Bimos lab chairs are suitable for all laboratory facilities, because we know exactly what the equipment requirements are and offer variants to match.

Chair height
The height of the workstation determines the seat height
In order to be able to work comfortably in the laboratory, the angles of the elbows, hips and knees should be no less than 90° when sitting. Therefore, tasks at high workstations and higher equipment, such as analysis machines, require a different chair than tasks at low workstations. Irrespective of the workstation height, every chair must also be individually adjusted to the height of the employee, which is why all Bimos laboratory chairs are available in high and low versions.
Are you unsure which height is ergonomically best for you? Then contact us, we are happy to advise you – via video, by phone or on site.
Safety
Sitting safely at high workplaces
Whilst low chairs are equipped with both glides and castors, there are safety requirements for high chairs, which are set out in DIN standard 68 877-1.

Castors
Castors allow a wide range of movement during work and are the ideal equipment for the many tasks in the laboratory. All low chairs are equipped with castors as standard. The soft castors are suitable for all hard floors.

Glides
As standard, high Bimos chairs are always equipped with glides to ensure safe sitting. Large in size and made of abrasion-resistant plastic, they provide the laboratory chair with excellent stability. Their height looks elegant while also protecting against the risk of tripping.

Stop & Go castors
A good way to equip even high chairs, so that they provide a firm hold but also remain easy to move, is to fit Stop & Go castors. They lock as soon as they are loaded with weight. They can also be retrofitted.

Mounting aids
All higher workplace chairs from a height of 650 mm are fitted with a mounting aid in accordance with DIN standard 68877-1. The mounting aid makes it easy and safe to get on and off the chair. Plus, its height can be adjusted and it can be folded up out of the way.
To support the feet even at high workstations and prevent poor posture, there are additional footrests or, as an alternative to the mounting aid, foot rings.

Chair variants
ESD versions for highly sensitive areas in the laboratory
Hygiene is at risk, not only from micro-organisms but also from invisible impurities and, in particular, possible electrostatic charges. Static charges attract unwanted particles, which can be avoided with an ESD function. Furthermore, static discharge can also cause great damage to sensitive electronic equipment in the laboratory or when working with flammable solvents.
Protect your work with the ESD versions of the Bimos lab chairs, whose design and materials ensure that static charges are reliably and completely discharged.

Other solutions
Stay flexible with stools and standing rests
In the laboratory in particular, there are work areas where employees frequently change places: Quickly check the samples, enter the results on the screen and then put some centrifuge tubes in the steriliser. Large chairs can easily become a hindrance. That's why height-adjustable stools make a good addition here; they take up little space and offer the same advantages as the Bimos lab chairs: They are easy to clean, comfortable and also available in an ESD version.
In places where workers might stand for longer periods, Bimos standing rests are indispensable supports that effectively relieve the body.
