Disinfectant when cleaning laboratory chairs

The most important material features for laboratory hygiene

It is not enough to just be clean - the standard of hygiene in laboratories must be uncompromising at all times. This applies for all types of laboratory, from those in pharmaceuticals and chemistry, to biotechnology and healthcare. This is because even the smallest of impurities can influence test results, falsify or even destroy them. A wide variety of disinfectants are used to kill off the microorganisms, i.e. render them inactive. These agents generally contain highly concentrated alcohols, such as isopropanol, which are often extremely aggressive and can wear away or damage the material over time. This poses a real challenge for the laboratory equipment, especially those objects that are subject to frequent and thus intensive cleaning - such as laboratory chairs, for example.

Correctly cleaning laboratory chairs: Synthetic leather and integral foam (PU)

In order to meet the high standard of hygiene required, the materials used in laboratory chairs must primarily be resistant to all established cleaning agents and disinfectants. Seating surfaces are particularly tricky, as these surfaces need to be kept as soft and comfortable as possible. Synthetic leather, for example, combines hygienic aspects with maximum seating comfort. Laboratory chairs with this type of upholstery have proven to be extremely resistant to the established cleaning agents and disinfectants while also guaranteeing a comfortable seat. If a laboratory chair is to be frequently exposed to mechanical influences, a seating surface made from integral foam (PU) is the best choice. Here, too, it must be ensured that the quality of the upholstery can withstand the stress from the cleaning agent and disinfectant as frequent cleaning with aggressive agents can lead to a brittle, cracked and hard surface over time.

Certified resistance to disinfectant from Bimos

The range of laboratory chairs from Bimos boasts its own hygienic design concept. In addition to a form-fitting design that ensures no contaminants collect in the gaps or seams, the focus is on the material used. The surfaces are not only easy to clean and very durable but they are also extremely resistant to all cleaning agents and disinfectants used in the cleaning of laboratories. Both the Bimos Skai and Magic synthetic leather covers, as well as the integral foam (PU) versions, offer maximum resistance The suitability of these laboratory chairs in conjunction with cleaning agents and disinfectants has been certified by Fraunhofer according to ISO 2812.
