Unique features for safe discharge 

Uncontrolled electrostatic discharge is one of the biggest dangers for sensitive components. If comprehensive protective measures are not implemented, this can result in high error rates and costs.

An important safety measure is ESD-compliant workplace equipment. In addition to a conductive table and floor, this also includes high-quality Bimos ESD chairs that reliably dissipate voltages. All Bimos ESD chairs guarantee maximum safety thanks to whole-product ESD discharge according to DIN EN 61340-5-1. The discharge capacity is extensively tested before delivery, so that you can rely one hundred percent on the protection provided by Bimos.

Completely safe: Conductive materials 

Bimos ESD chairs are sophisticated complete systems that offer unique protective properties. On the one hand, an optimal choice of materials and connection technology ensures that no electrostatic charge is generated on the chair itself. 
On the other hand, Bimos chairs dissipate charges to the ground across the whole product: Via conductive comfortable upholstery, volume-conductive plastics, castors and glides as well as conductive coated steel parts. This means that even voltages applied by employees do not cause any damage.

Developed specifically for use in prodution environments, Supertec offers unique properties that unite the benefits of robust plastic and soft integral foam (PU), a combination that is already winning over production employees across the globe.

Supertec is characterised by its unique structure. The soft, flexible fabric backing features micro-plating made from ceramic studs, providing maximum resistance against mechanical influences. This robustness makes Supertec one of the most durable, economical and practical cover materials (for production chairs).

Since environments like ESD areas are generally clean but there is no need to disinfect surfaces, the fabric upholstery version is particularly suitable.

Fabric continues to be one of the softest and most comfortable cover materials. Soft fabric upholstery provides a pleasant sitting experience has a positive impact on employee satisfaction, particularly in ESD areas where long periods of sitting and a high level of concentration are the norm.

Integral foam (PU)

Skintec ESD

The soft upholstery ensures lasting comfort when sitting. Skintec is extremely robust, withstands typical cleaning procedures, easily withstands commercially available disinfectants and retains its shape over the long term. The ESD properties also ensure safe dissipation of electrostatic charges. Thanks to an advanced manufacturing process that completely avoids the use of environmentally harmful substances, Skintec meets demanding sustainability requirements. The result is a material that combines robustness, ESD protection, comfort, hygiene and lasting quality in one product.

As a comfortable upholstery material, artificial leather is particularly suitable when a comfortable seat is required for highly concentrated work. The easy-to-clean surface is easy to wash and offers resistance to disinfectants. Soft, durable and economical, synthetic leather is a good choice.

Typical discharge resistance

 

Reliably meets the standard

ESD protection for the use of chairs in EPAs (ESD Protected Areas) is regulated in the EN 61340-5-1 standard. It specifies that the leakage resistance from any area of the seat to the ground must be < 109 Ω. However, in practice, requirements are often stricter; therefore, Bimos ESD chairs are even safer: The typical leakage resistance is 106 Ω – just like the surface resistance, which is not mentioned in the regulation with regard to chairs.
