Bimos Skintec Upholstery: Award at the Baden-Württemberg Environmental Technology Award 2025

With the new, innovative, and environmentally friendly foaming technology used to manufacture the new Skintec cushions, Bimos achieved second place in the Material Efficiency and Resource Conservation category at the Baden-Württemberg Environmental Technology Award 2025. The award impressively highlights the growing importance of sustainable production methods in modern industry – and demonstrates how consistently Bimos is pursuing this path.

Sustainable Foaming Technology as an Innovation Leap

The new process, which completely avoids halogenated propellants, was recognized. This technology not only significantly reduces CO₂ emissions but also lowers resource consumption. At the same time, it meets the requirements for the coveted Blue Angel environmental label.

Despite all the sustainability benefits, the technology remains flexible: it allows an exceptionally wide variety of product variants and opens up new possibilities in modern manufacturing.

Production in the Swabian Jura: High-Tech Meets Responsibility

At the company headquarters in Meßstetten-Tieringen, the Skintec cushions are manufactured entirely in-house using the new technology. State-of-the-art, robot-assisted production processes are used here, ensuring consistently high quality and maximum process reliability.

The project impressively demonstrates how technological innovation, regional production, and ecological responsibility can come together.

An Award with a Signaling Effect

Since 2009, the Ministry of the Environment, Climate, and Energy of Baden-Württemberg has been recognizing particularly sustainable technologies. On November 11, 2025, State Secretary for the Environment Dr. Andre Baumann presented the awards at the Schwabenlandhalle in Fellbach – selected from around 100 applications across the state.

The Environmental Technology Award emphasizes the importance of innovations that significantly relieve the environment and resources. With its new foaming technology, Bimos sends a clear signal for a more sustainable future of industrial manufacturing.
